2peach is working for development of Policies for Positive Energy Affordable and Comfortable Housing and Supporting implementation and upscale of energy efficiency and passive design of buildings globally.
2peach support governments and organizations in the development of ambitious policies for both new and existing buildings. We have a main focus on passive design and positive energy buildings and especially for the residential sector.
2peach develops guidance and networking between all the active stakeholders in construction and renovation of buildings. It is the aim to support fast up scaling of good design principles and concepts such as positive energy housing and deep renovation.
We work globally, but we recognize that buildings as well as policies need to be adapted to regional or local climates and conditions. We believe in learning from best practices globally, but also from traditional buildings in all climates and cultures. A combination of old principles, new technology and a holistic approach is needed to get good and comfortable buildings at low costs, which can drive a step change.
A change in policies need to be ambitious and to target a world where buildings produce as much energy as they use, but they also need to be affordable and comfortable. This accounts especially for housing. We work for this change and 2peach wants to work together with all other organisations or stakeholders, who have the same agenda.
Why do we focus on policies?
Because there’s an urgent need to develop and upscale positive energy buildings and deep renovation. We have little time to change. Policies have to drive the change by changing the way markets work, efficiency low or no energy use need to become a competitive advantage. Barriers for energy efficiency and renewable energy need to be removed by active governance and first runners. If actively lead such a transformation can happen at low or no costs over time. If we wait for the market to transform by itself we will not make it fast enough.
Positive energy construction and passive design of new buildings will lead the way, but with time these principles need to move into the existing building stock and to drive deep renovations and ultimately development towards positive energy or zero carbon in existing buildings too.
